102 degree fever - grrreat.

So it is Thursday before Xmas and I'd rather be at the shop today, but I came home with a nice fever and chills last nite. This morning the fever is still here and I have the sweats. Feel pretty rough. Just wasting time between cat naps right now. Actually, there is a cat in my lap. She is glad she's not outside where she usually spends her day. Ever notice that cats don't get colds? hmmm... --dB

UPDATE 12.07.2006

My first post back here since October, too busy riding to blog I guess. Tuesday I hit Carvin's with Jeffro and Steve 'GeOrge' Phlegar. Trails were a bit wet, and the wx was clear, temps hovering at about 38 F - PERFECT riding wx though. We burned up the new trail, Steve crashed trying to climb the wall at the old ladder crossing - got soaked. Then on '1,000 Foot Climb' he redeemed himself by cleaning the 'Steep Switchback Challenge' - all were impressed. If Jeffro had brought the wallet it would have gone to Steve for the stupendous effort and display - along with the fact he was the ONLY one to even try the wall back at the crossing.

'Clownhead' was a high speed debacle to say the least - NO ONE escaped unscathed. As usual I punched it at the top with Steve-O and Jeffro falling in line. The trail soon became a leafytrough with no clear idea of where the baby heads were hiding - so I added power. I power slid through a few of the corners before finally missing a turn while surfing the leafy surface, then crashed out pretty good about three more times. After the last and ugliest of my falls I looked back up the trail to see Steve AND Jeff BOTH 3 feet below the trail in a pile - about 50' apart. NICE. Evidently the folks in ROA aren't interested in riding this trail enough to keep the leaves cleared from it... FOR SHAME. That's okay though - we sure had fun!

BMF Award goes to Steve.
Jeffro is on
double secret probation for arriving at a Toejam Ride without the wallet. On top of the fact that he whined about his 'middle-ring' being worn out for 1.5 hours - dude - spend some of that $money and buy a freakin' drive train for that rig - show your bike some love!

I did manage to eek out the '
Best Crash Award' for my efforts in a particularly well-camoflaged stream crossing - full speed, wheel dropped in hole of water, stopped by root mass, over the bars face plant, while fully clipped in and mits still gripping the Ourys. Mouth full of mud, fowl tasting stuff too. Steve-O got the full show, and seems to enjoy describing the action.

I'll be back soon posting the long-awaited Cali-CRASHfest pix from back in July - sorry I have been so slack - I know ya'll have been losing sleep over this the past 5 months!
